This reminded me of when I was in 9th grade and I was getting ready for school. I had to run outside and get something from the car. On the way back into the house I fell down. I limped into the house and told my mother that I broke my leg. Of course she didn’t believe me. She accused me of not wanting to go to school that day. Eventually she relented and let me stay home but did not really believe my leg was broken. And wouldn’t you know it the following day she took me to the doctor and my leg was broken.
It happens to the best of us.

What a story. No way! Thanks for sharing. Talk about pain! How did you get through the day? I’ll bet you re-tell this story often. Luckily, we learn from our “mommy mishaps”. Did it make you extra cautious of every little “odd” feeling your little ones go through when you became a mom?

Actually I had really forgotten the story until I read your post. I am the opposite of being overcautious with the kids. I never think they are sick and I always downplay when they tell me they are hurt and sick. Which always makes me feel like a “bad mommy” when it turns out to be something real.

So relieved to hear this – thank you so much! And you’re not a “bad mommy” at all! I will be posting something soon about gathering more mommy whines for my second book. Would LOVE to include one of your funny tidbits if interested. 😉
