My 10-year old lost two teeth at school the other day and said it was ok to leave the money on his dresser. This rendered me, yes me, speechless. He said he has known about the Tooth Fairy for a few years now. “But don’t worry, Mom. I won’t say anything to my sister.” God help us all, he’s 10. When did my baby boy become a tween?
So long, tooth fairy

How adorable. Enjoy it while it lasts, Cynthia. I’m holding onto Sarah’s innocence about this stuff for as long as I can!

I am amazed that my children have NOT caught on to any of them (unless they are just “playing along”). They both tried writing letters to the Tooth Fairy as well and she answered them, which seemed to satisfy them for now. Neither of them have ever questioned Santa or the Easter Bunny either…a part of me is looking forward to having them in on it so that the pressure will be off a little bit. However, kids grow up so fast these days…I am glad that they are holding on to this aspect of their childhood.

My kids always write/wrote notes with questions like … what does she do with all the teeth she collects?..(that one was a hard one).. what does she wear? or why does she come only at night? isn’t she tired? has she ever got a cavity? has she ever tried strawberry flavored toothpaste? and I’m happy to say, the tooth fairy answered every one! 🙂

I know it, Margaret. It’s a darn shame. Why do they have to catch on about these things, (the stuff that makes us realize they are growing up too fast), but not about picking up their room on a daily basis?

I am laughing out loud as I read your post. I have been trying to convince my son that I am NOT the tooth fairy but I think he has figured it out- especially the time when the tooth fairy forgot to come. Oh well…

Oh no is right. I’m not sure, Courtney, but I’m happy to stay in mommy denial for a few more weeks!

Oh no! and you gotta assume once the tooth fairy is debunked, the rest are soon to follow… or is Santa already a thing of the past?
